Ultimate Frisbee enthusiast and Project Technician Megan Hanck joins the Studio Design Group Architecture team with a degree in Architecture from Cal Poly and minor in Psychology. She loved Cal Poly’s learn by doing philosophy and brings a positive can-do attitude to the office.
While pursuing her thesis and working at Studio Design Group Architects, she also participated in the Biomimicry Global Design Challenge with teammates Anna Laird and Kristin Fauske. Megan’s team was awarded first place in the student category.
Megan first started at Studio Design Group Architects as a student and worked her way up to earning a full-time position, “I was drawn to SDG because of the quality of the work produced, and the emphasis on creating buildings and environments that enrich people’s daily experiences. Everyone at Studio Design Group has made me feel welcome and part of the team, and I jumped at the chance to continue working here.”
Today her role includes site data collection and documentation, learning professional practice skills, and drawing and presentation preparation. She shares, “I love that Studio Design Group is detail-oriented, and am so grateful for all of the mentorship I have received thus far from everyone at SDG. I have gotten to be involved in a variety of design stages, gained NCARB credit and have already learned a lot about design exhibits, OSHPD, and got to build and assemble permit and building sets.”
A Los Gatos native, her personal interests stretch far and wide with hobbies that include line dancing, hiking, Irish step dancing, running, sketching, and painting. She enjoys working on a variety of different projects in the downtown San Luis Obispo office, only steps away from live music and Thursday night Farmers’ Market. All of us are happy to welcome Megan to the team as she pursues licensure and continues to shape her portfolio in sustainable building design here at Studio Design Group Architects.
