Pismo Street Station
Pismo Street Station is a small multi-family housing development designed for the Housing Authority of San Luis Obispo, an agency that provides safe, affordable housing for eligible residents and manages the Section 8 housing program for the County of San Luis Obispo.
This eleven unit apartment complex, nestled in an older residential neighborhood, takes cues from the adjacent railroad track. It features a simple railroad vernacular aesthetic with knee-braced posts supporting porch roofs at entrances. The site offers a common open space and a small children’s playground.
Addressing neighborhood concerns and keeping the project attractive and affordable were priorities for the design team.
