San Miguel Mission Street - SLO County Commercial Design

San Miguel Mission Street

The Mission Street project is a revitalization design effort for the community of San Miguel, a town built around the 200 year old mission established by Father Junipero Serra. The proposed master plan includes commercial and residential components, street improvements and a community plaza to reinvigorate Mission Street with a sense of life and community.

The central community plaza will serve as the focal point of the revitalized downtown. The 740 lineal feet of new downtown storefront and commercial space run along one side of the mission. Western and mission design references contribute to the mix of traditional main street facades, which honor the town’s history while meeting today’s requirements for parking and access to second floor office and residential units.

Although not yet constructed, this project has been recognized for its potential to bring significant positive changes to the San Miguel community.
