Stollmeyer Family Birthing Center—Phase I
An essential addition to the French Hospital Medical Center campus, the Stollmeyer Family Birthing Center was designed to serve Central Coast families welcoming children into the world. The facility provides a warm and inviting setting for Moms and babies alike, while seamlessly integrating energy saving technology into operational space for care providers.
Completed in 2016, Phase I progress includes a contemporary birthing suite, delivery room, Cesarean operating room, and two spacious semi-private patient rooms designed with community and comfort in mind. Additional updates include a nurse station and staff lounge, along with functional equipment and utility rooms. Phase II will be built in 2017 and add to the number of amenities and delivery rooms.
Designed to promote safety and practice environmental responsibility, the Stollmeyer Family Birthing Center features individual temperature control, Lumicor light box panels, and LED lighting on dimmers. Automatic recessed blinds concealed above the ceiling operate at the touch of a button, while ceiling mounted booms in the Cesarean operating suite allow for anesthesia and exam lighting, keeping the floor free of cords and equipment.
Focused on family-centered care, the Stollmeyer Family Birthing Center is the only Central Coast hospital recognized as a Baby-Friendly hospital by a global initiative from the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund. It is one of only 146 hospitals and birth centers in the United States to earn this recognition.
