Originally introduced on our blog in 2021, Principal Architect Tim Ronda and Project Manager Corey Templeton are pleased to announce groundbreaking on the Cayucos Veteran’s Memorial Hall rehabilitation project. The Ribbon Cutting ceremony occurred in December and the project is underway with an estimated completion date of February 2024.
Rehabilitation of this historic structure will include a new foundation that raises the building 2.5 feet to guard against sea level rise, as well as thoughtful reconstruction that honors and restores many historic character elements. The project will include exterior redwood siding, shake roofing, and a 6,900 s.f. ocean-facing deck addition with access to the beach and the Cayucos Pier.
Studio Design Group worked closely with the County of San Luis Obispo to support their efforts to obtain a $4.4 million grant from the California Natural Resources Agency to help fund this project. Additional funding was made possible by the California Department of Parks & Recreation, State Coastal Conservancy, Restore Cayucos Vets Hall Committee, and the Cayucos Lions Club. More information is available on the County of San Luis Obispo media release.
